I found this new blogging client for Blackberry and it seems to work fine with my bb 8830 and my WordPress 2.3.2 blog.
The name of the client is BB Meta Blog Blackberry Client and I am posting this with it.
Does anyone know of any other Blackberry blog clients?
Interesting John. how or where do i download this from?
You can download the app to your blackberry at http://www.opencod.org/opencod/ls2007party.nsf/bbMetaBlog.html and the project home page is at http://www.opencod.org/openCOD/projects/pmt.nsf/ProjectHome?ReadForm&Query=bbMetaBlog%20(Basic)
Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work with a Movable Type blog (I get an odd “null” response from the server when trying to pull in categories; I don’t think MT supports the MetaWebLog API).
I keep searching around for anything else out there, but, remarkably, there seems to be nearly nothing out there.
@Dave- echoing your sentiment, it seems there’s almost nothing out there when it comes to Blackberry blogging clients. I really had expected to find at least a few clients, and I very surprised at the lack of options.
Out of memory error on a 8700g .. shame. Looked like an answer!
@Dave MT definitely *does* support MetaWeblog, but it looks (unfortunately) like BB Meta is a little iffy on apps other than the platform it was built for. I’m talking to our mobile client dev and the MT team about whether we can fix that.
Thanks for the comment, Anil.
Are you aware of any other MetaWeblog-compatible blogging clients out there for Blackberry? I kind of expected there would be a handful but I am coming up empty in my search …
I’m trying BB Meta Blog with an BB8310 and Atlassian’s Confluence wiki blog.
I was able to get the configuration set to the point where I could click on Get Categories and not get an error message, so I’m pretty sure they are talking. However, I get an error message when I try to post: “An error occurred processing the response XML”.
# About the config’s Default Location field: What should I put in this field?
# About the config’s Access URL field: Currently, this field contains the URL that a reader would go to read recent posts (http:///pages/viewrecentblogposts?). Is this right? Should I be using the XMLRPC API URL instead?
# About the post form: What goes in the Location field?
I stopped by the project site to get documentation and sources, http://www.opencod.org/openCOD/projects/pmt.nsf/ProjectHome?ReadForm&Query=bbMetaBlog, but the page is empty.
Help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I don’t know the answers to your questions… With any luck the developers of this app will see your questions here and respond to them…
I use the awesome client from shozu.com when I need to send pictures… I believe they have a text message option as well. Also, why don’t you guys use the email option?
If anyone needs help setting this up, hosting wp or other mobile office questions, just reply here or stop by my site and give me a call.
@jd – As far as I know, you can’t do things like set categories or tags when using the email gateway on WordPress.
You can do anything via email that you could via website on WordPress.
Let me show you:
* [category x,y,z]
* [excerpt]some excerpt[/excerpt]
* [tags x,y,z]
* [delay +1 hour]
* [comments on | off]
* [status publish | pending | draft]
* [password secret-password]
* [slug some-url-name]
* [end] – everything after this shortcode is ignored (i.e. signatures)
I can also attach pictures!
AND use HTML
Usable HTML:
address, a, abbr, acronym, b, big, blockquote, br, caption, cite,
class, code, col, del, dd, div, dl, dt, em, font, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5,
h6, hr, i, img, ins, kbd, li, p, pre, q, s, span, strike, strong, sub,
sup, table, tbody, td, tfoot, tr, tt, ul, ol, var
Other Code:
Wrap your code in these tags:
[sourcecode language=’css’]
your code here
[/sourcecode]
Any of the following can be used for the language parameter (using one
is required):
* bash
* cpp
* csharp
* css
* delphi
* html
* java
* jscript
* php
* python
* ruby
* shell
* sql
* vb
* xml

I set a bunch of Autotexts to do this. Would like to simplify the process however…
